2016 MonetValley BnB
THE IDEA BEGAN WHEN A HIGH SCHOOL PENPAL MENTIONED IF I COULD POSSIBLY BE INTERESTED IN A NEW ONLINE VENUE CALLED AIRBNB. I HAD NEVER HEARD OF AIRBNB. CURIOUSLY, I GOOGLED “AIRBNB,” AND THE SIMPLICITY OF THE WEBSITE APPEALED TO ME AS WELL AS PHOTOS OF BEAUTIFUL HOMES THAT YOU CAN RENT ON VACATION, AS OPPOSED TO HOTEL ACCOMMODATION.
BEFORE I PROCEED WITH THIS NEW BUSINESS VENTURE, I HAD TO ASK MY MOTHER, ROSE FOR HER APPROVAL AS WELL AS MY SIBLINGS. IT WAS HER HOGAN HOMES AFTER ALL. I EXPLAINED TO MY MOTHER WHAT THIS COULD MEAN FOR US: ALLOWING PEOPLE FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD TO BE SLEEPING IN HER SACRED HOGAN. I WASN’T SURE HOW SHE PERCEIVED THIS, BUT SHE ASSURED ME THAT THE HOGAN WAS BUILT AS A PLACE OF BUSINESS. SHE HAD THESE HOGANS BUILT TO MEET THE DEMAND OF INTERNATIONAL TOURISM IN THE MID-1990’S. IT ALSO MEANT THAT IT WILL GENERATE A GOOD INCOME.
IN MARCH 2016, MONETVALLEY BNB MADE ITS DEBUT ON AIRBNB. WITHIN TWO WEEKS, QUERIES AND RESERVATIONS STARTED COMING REGULARLY. EVERY NOTIFICATION RESONATED WITH A SALE! IT WAS EXCITING AND SCARY AT THE SAME TIME.
